Camp at Parham Campground
Spider/Jinker
 - Boat Launcher Parham Beach

Fly Sculpture
4/5/2012  -  It was cloudy and showery this morning when we got up.  We had breakfast and by that time the sun was shining so we were able to pack up without getting wet.  We left the van park at 9.15 and stopped in town for bread, milk and some more Normy Burgers from the local butcher.  We got some a couple of days ago from him and had them for tea last night.  They were great so we decided to get some for the road.  Travelled out through Yankalilla which is only just out of Normanville.  Then on through Miponga where there is a micro brewery, Sellicks Beach which looked really nice and you could drive a vehicle on the beach there, Aldinga Beach which was quite big. It had huge new homes along the esplanade.  Port Willunga was next and it seemed a bit of an older town with really old homes and lots of olive trees and vineyards.  We fuelled up at Moana at the Liberty Servo for $1.46 a litre.  They had just dropped it 1c so we turned up at the right time.  We then drove through Adelaide along one of the outer roads which was really quite easy and straight forward so we didn't have to go through the city.  On the other side of Adelaide there were paddocks full of big greenhouses which looked like they were growing tomatoes and other veges in.  Then just around Lower Light there were huge metal sculptures in paddocks either side of the road.  They looked great.  There was a Cockroach, Fly and a few other things.  We had lunch at the Lions Park in Dublin and then just down the highway from there we turned off for Parham Foreshore Campground which is on the Gulf of St Vincent.  The town of Parham didn't look like it had any shops but had a lot of old beach houses and some new ones too just opposite the beach.  The campground had a few water puddles in it so they must have had rain recently but most of it was okay and it was flat.  There were free electric barbeques there and the amenities had flushing toilets with soap and paper.  (Flushing toilets is a luxury in a campground.)  We set up camp and went for a walk along the beach.  The beach was covered in seaweed here too.  The water goes a long way out at low tide and we came across a vehicle they call a "Spider" or "Jinker".  Because the water is so far out on low tide they use the Spider/Jinker to launch their boats in the deeper water.  It started to get a bit cool so we headed back to camp and did a bit of reading and tried to use our laptops but the signal was too weak so we gave up on that.
