16/4/2012  -  Left Dave and Chris's at Leongatha this morning.  We had only just gone down the road when Dave phoned to let us know we had left our anti-flap bars in the shed so he brought them up to us so we didn't have to turn around and go back.  We went down through Inverloch, Wonthaggi, Kilcunda (nice little town right near the beach with a lovely little van park) and onto Bass where we stopped for fuel.  It was $1.48 so we took a punt, got it there, and it paid off.  The going rate after that was around $1.54.  We continued on along the Bass Highway and up onto the Gippsland Highway and off that through Peacedale and up onto the Moorooduc  Highway.  There are so many roundabouts on these highways down here on the Mornington Peninsula.  Seems like there is one every couple of kilometres.  The highway ended just west of Rosebud so we cruised further along the coast to Sorrento to find where we had to catch the ferry tomorrow. After we found that we headed back towards Rosebud again to find some accommodation for the night in one of the foreshore camping areas.  We found one that was quite flat at Capel Sound Foreshore in Rosebud and booked in at the office.  It was $30 for the night which was a bit overpriced.   Our site was on a bit of a slope so we had to unhook the car to get the van up high enough to level off but there was only a bit of scrub and dune between us and the beach so that was good.  Had lunch out in the sun and did an online booking for the ferry tomorrow.  That was $84 for us, the car and van.   It is cheaper to take the 7 or 8 o'clock ferry if you have a van so we saved heaps by booking the 8 o'clock one. Then we went for a long walk along the beach which was great.  Found lots of lovely shells, the best so far. There are lots of brightly coloured boat sheds all along the beach some of which have been there for many years and could tell a story or two.  Some were a bit run down but some had been well looked after.  We think people use them to live in when they are down here.  They even sweep the beach here. Went back to camp for happy hour and settled in for the night.
