Port Albert

Rest Area at Port Albert

Looking toward jetties at Port Albert
Day 8 - My birthday today.  Left Nev and Jen's early to be able to park in the shopping centre with the van before it got too busy.  Managed to get a couple of trackie pants.  Not a lot to choose from surprisingly.  I thought they would have heaps down here because it gets so cold.  Had a birthday call from Sue Farrelly and Lee Lee so that was lovely and a message from Kirmy to say they were at VRD okay which was good to hear.  We finished shopping, fuelled up and left Bairnsdale heading for Leongatha. We got to Moko time and decided to call into a little place called Port Albert on the coast where there was a rest area.  We are so glad we did.  By now the sun was shining (finally found it) and it was a beautiful day and Port Albert was just lovely.  It was really just a fishing village and there weren't many shops but lots of boats tied up to the jetties and the water was so clear and blue.  It is located in a bay and the water was flat as a tack.  We really don't want to go any further but have to get to Leongatha for the family reunion so we had a cuppa, bought fish pieces and chips for lunch from the pub (birthday lunch) and spent about another hour there before continuing on reluctantly.  We arrived in Leongatha mid afternoon and caught up with Chris.  Dave got home from work a couple of hours later.  Pa helped him take a cupboard down to the hall for the reunion and he caught up with some of the family.  We all went down to the hall for tea and met up with Pat and Ray and more of the family.  Had a lovely dinner and headed home.  That's one more birthday down. Big weekend coming up.
